About our Early Careers Studio Programme

Within Beeching Road Studio complex the operators in their delivery of an inclusive creative workspace complex, will plan to deliver a studio programme which is focussed on supporting 6 early career artists to commit necessary development time to their studio based practice.

 

Via this commitment to studio based artistic development artists will benefit from a vital studio programme which will focus on equipping emerging practitioners with tools to enable a versatile, stable future career that allows artists to develop their skills to be able to work confidently in a variety of formats in relationship to their studio research.

 

The artists for this programme will be identified by an open call application process to achieve1 year’s supported studio provision. 6 subsidised artist studios will be made available set within the wider network at Beeching Rd of arts organisations set across 1,560 sqm of light industrial space. The overarching vision for Beeching Rd is to allow for a new artist community to establish it self within Bexhill-on-Sea benefitting from the pre-existing flourishing arts community of wider East Sussex that will inspire a new generation of young people to visualise a creative career born on the South East coast.

 

Through this studio programme 6 artists will benefit from a workshop, and exhibition budget for production of community engaged projects; working with Bexhill College’s community partners. Participation in a mentorship and tuition programme which will see artists gain valuable critical, curatorial and, artistic input, via studio visits, clinics, workshops, and development conversations. Regularly support from Flatland’s three founders; through curatorial research, artist studio support, and development of community engaged projects.

 

Bexhill College will provide important opportunities to early career creative practitioners through this programme access to career developmental training; this will include opportunities to develop artist’s ability to deliver workshops, business development opportunities, and training to ensure that artist’s finish the emerging studio programme with resilience to continue to exist as a creative professional in the world.
