Beeching Road Studios Community Participation Requirements

A demonstrated passion for creating and making.

A commitment to developing a sustainable studio-based practice through collaboration, new communities and learning.

A person who seeks to engage with the wider building activity and will support Flatland Projects and other BRS stakeholders to contribute to BRS becoming a nationally relevant studio facility.

Studio Allocation Policy

Following the closing date for applications, Beeching Road’s studios will be offered on the basis of an applicant demonstrating in their application form fulfilment of the above participation requirements; their artistic potential; and studio-based activity which the steering group believe will enrich the creative lives of local audiences and support opportunities for the established artistic ecology in Bexhill.

There are 27 studios available at Beeching Road Studios, artists will be offered an allocated studio based upon where the steering group feel they will suit in the building, studios will not be allocated based upon personal preference. The steering group will look to build a curated dialogue between studio holders and a practical blend which will define where each studio holder is located within the studio units.

Applications can be made by completing the online application form.

Context

The studios have been made available at Beeching Rd as part of the growing cluster of arts organisations (Flatland Projects, Common Clay, Three Legs Brewery & Unit 33 Book Bindery) set across 1,560 sqm of light industrial space. The overarching vision for Beeching Road Studios is to allow for a new artist community to establish itself within Bexhill-on-Sea benefitting from the pre-existing flourishing arts community of wider East Sussex that will inspire a new generation of young people to visualise a creative career born on the South East coast.
